Re: AI Policy
@MichelleEberly we have implemented this on the top of our applications:
We recognize that applicants may choose to use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist in developing their grant applications. The use of AI is permitted; however, applicants remain
fully responsible for the accuracy, completeness, and authenticity of all submitted information.
By submitting an application, applicants acknowledge that any AI-assisted content has been thoroughly reviewed and that all responses accurately reflect their organization’s original intent, programs, and needs. Applicants further attest that all information has been verified for accuracy, completeness, and truthfulness prior to submission.
We also require that they check the following statement at the bottom of the application:
I acknowledge that I may have used artificial intelligence tools to assist in drafting this grant application; however, I attest that all responses accurately reflect my organization’s original intent, programs, and needs.
I further confirm that all application content has been manually reviewed by me for accuracy, completeness, and truthfulness prior to submission.
I hope this information gives you a starting point!
Re: AI Policy
Hello! We have taken a hard stance against using AI within our scholarship applications and include the below agreement on the application for students to attest that the submission is their original work:
Short Answer and Essay Acknowledgment: The Community Foundation wants your authentic voice and personality to shine through your short statement and essay. While we understand there are online tools that use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate ideas, you must submit original work.
Community Foundation staff run essays through anti-plagiarism and AI-detection software to ensure the integrity of your writing. If your submission has been plagiarized, copied, majority generated by AI, or is deemed not your original work, Community Foundation staff may immediately remove your application from consideration.
This year, we received an increase in submissions that were written by AI and felt it was unfair to consider those submissions over students who submitted their own work. We are considering a strong stance on grant applications as well.
Re: AI Policy
Here is the AI policy we adopted nearly a year ago, so it's likely already dated. Glad to share it if it's helpful and hope to see other examples so we can improve ours!
Re: How long is your scholarship application open?
Hi Juana! Our application was opened February 5 to March 5, with the majority of submissions happening in the last week. Let me know if you need more information.
