Do you ask permission from your fund creators if they want their fund 'promoted' in order to receive donations to the fund, or do you automatically make that an option for all funds?

Comments

  • Yes we do. We ask if they wanted it promoted in the documents that we send them as we are establishing the fund.

We have organizations who hold an endowment(s) with us. We promote those endowed organizations, and also do additional descriptions for those that are leveraging their endowment with a match campaign.

We touch on these promoting capabilities in our Nonprofit Endowment Policy, as well as in the establishing meetings for the Endowment.

We default everything to private upon establishing the fund, unless we have a directive from the donor/organization that they want to self-promote their fund. If they want to promote their fund, we make it "public", and then provide them with a link to share.

We decide which funds we want to "promote" on our own Giving Hub page. Typically, it will be a memorial fund where we are named in an obit, or a fund that supports a community cause or event.

We also default to private unless it's specifically requested to be made public by the Fundholder. The exception is memorial funds during the first year as those are usually specifically intended to be public but we do talk with the establisher about whether they want it public or not. We have the Fundholders of all of our public funds sign an annual certification that they have read and will follow our Donor Initiated Fundraising Policy.
