Scholarship Deferals

Good Morning,

We were recently contacted by a scholarship recipient that her scholarship she was awarded was going to be returned to use from the college unless we provide them a letter stating that the scholarship could be deferred to next school year. This is because of the aid awarded to her by the financial institution, along with other academic scholarship that she received for her first year of college. I wanted to reach out to see if other Community Foundations allowed for the deferrals of scholarship for this reason, or if there were any reasons as to why this wouldn't be allowed? Any help would be appreciated.
