Scholarship Application Questions/Examples
Is anyone willing to provide a copy of their scholarship applications for reference in building our own? The Foundation strives to support medical students to hopefully end up practicing and staying local throughout their careers. Do you have any ideas on questions we could ask to align with our mission? Or general questions for post graduate scholarship applications? Valleyhealthed.org is our website for reference. Thanks in advance!

Hi @shayleejones ,
It looks like it has been a bit since you posted this question but since no one has replied, I figured I would, since better late than never, right?
We award scholarships for all different majors and types of post high school education (and ages), so ours is a bit more broad than medical students.
We have a section for school activities, where they highlight two of their involvements, a community activities section (so, any other club or volunteering outside of school), a work experience section, an area for references to fill out a quick survey about the applicant, and essay questions. We have two essay questions, and this is probably where we spend the most time thinking about these two questions (with the help of our Scholarship Committee). I think this is where we learn the most about the students interests and motivations. We give a 2,000 character limit to each essay. Our current questions are "Describe a significant experience that you have had. How did you respond and what did you learn about yourself?" and "How will the next phase of your education help you achieve your future goals?"
Maybe using something like "Describe how you view healthcare in the central valley, and how you view your role/future role within it." would be helpful.
I hope you get some more responses.
Danielle
