Partnerships and collaborations are critical to positive outcomes and therefore funding. Societal problems are multi-faceted. We should do what we do best and get help for the rest.
-
Hi @SusanRemy . Welcome.
-
We are on the receiving end of donations and prefer ACH, especially during the pandemic. One community foundation sending us a large donation from one of their account holders actually has changed their practices since I requested a wire transfer rather than a check.

Hi @EphraimGopin I work for a foundation that is the charitable arm of a safety net hospital system. The system has over 12,000 employees, so the communication is via email and occasionally through our staff newsletter. Also, at the yearly benefits fair we have a booth - at least prior to the pandemic. There is an active…

Regarding staff, I would never force anyone to give to our nonprofit. Personal choice is at the very heart of philanthropy. We strongly encourage 100% staff participation at any level. It sends a strong message to the board and outside funders when we can say 100% of our staff our donors. It demonstrates a commitment…

One man's opinion. 100% of staff and board members should be donors to the nonprofits they work or volunteer for.

A healthcare specific grant webinar would be interesting. I work for a large safety net hospital in Dallas. Though we have several centers of excellence for specialty care, a large percentage of our patients are uninsured or medicaid. One of the the things we learned last year is that the pandemic has put an exclamation…

Here is a great podcast. Charitable Chit Chat with Cathy & Claire https://charitablechitchat.com/f/introducing-charitable-chit-chat-with-cathy-claire-1 Cathy and Claire are long time professional colleagues and personal friends. They are thought leaders in philanthropy. You can listen on the website above or on Spotify.…

Hi @KaraAdams , Our hospital system is so large (12,000 employees and over 25 locations for conducting business) that we have a whole department committed to disaster management and business continuity. I have not personally worked on developing such a plan.
-
I have a situation where a family lost a son in an accident and created an endowment to honor their son. As in the above situation, they were encouraging outside donations to the fund. The donors were committed to ensuring the minimum amount required to set up an endowment was met.

When we do go in to the office, we are limited to 10 people at any one time. We have a scheduling app to secure a spot. Because I work for a health care system, we also have to go online and fill out a health questionnaire within four hours of showing up in person,
-
Our office is 24 people. We just learned today that we are continuing to work from home until Jan. 19.

More Texans - gotta love it y'all!!!!

Working from my deck on a beautiful fall Dallas day.
-
I'll see if I have some information I can share about that @AndreaBGarcia . I know we have research showing the problem, I don't know what we have yet related to outcomes.
-
Tobi, if it passes, I will be happy to share. It starts with a nice statement about why this is important. Kent

@TobiBruhn I'm chair of a national board. We are proposing a DEI policy at our next meeting that has diversity metrics for our board, all committees, working groups and task forces as well as for all of our educational offerings including our national conference. It's aggressive, but I hope it passes to give us a new and…

@AndreaBerman, One of our funding priorities is a program our hospital is calling Extending Maternal Care After Pregnancy (eMCAP). Research has shown that many maternal health issues occur after the time limit for medicaid funding for care ends.We are raising money to help provide postpartum care well beyond what medicaid…

And we of course were sad to see him go back.

Did you know that Torrey came and worked at Parkland Foundation? He was amazing. Then I think The Dallas Foundation gave him an offer he couldn't refuse to come back. Oh well.
-
Hi @LynsieLaughlin The Dallas Foundation is a wonderful organization. Gary Garcia, Kim Montez, Torrey Littleton are professional colleagues I hold in high regard. They are partners in a program our local CGP council puts on to educate people about the art and science of charitable gift planning and why every organization…

You're so right about the challenges. Stating the cause for dogs at the shelter or art in the museum is easy.Other stories are more difficult to tell and perhaps more challenging for people to understand and form an affinity. While in college when i volunteered at the group home with another buddy of mine, we were out with…

State laws vary, but in Texas, electronic signatures are binding and acceptable for contracts. Everyone can do business here virtually without wet ink signatures, the exception is the estate planning attorneys. A will still requires in person witnesses to the signing.

Great work @AndreaBGarcia The hospital I work at is the second busiest labor and delivery in the US. We are also a safety net hospital for our county, so most of our patients have no insurance, most are minorities and many do not speak English. Yet, with those challenges, about 95% of mom's have had prenatal care and…

Sounds like a great reason to visit Long Island!
