From Birmingham, Alabama, Welcome to the Foundant Family!

Juana, We utilize an outside vendor to process our ACH transactions called Bill.com. We still process checks in some instances where the organization is so small or they are volunteer based and ACH would be difficult. I've attached a sample of our award letter which contains text about the Grant Agreement that must be…

MV, Our foundation has the same issue. I use 99-9999999 for the EIN when grants are made to government entities and churches. I think I would rather maintain the fictitious number and keep it as a required field than risk not having something entered when it's available. I always double check these to ensure that they…

@JamieCarroll, I've attached our standard grant agreement for your review. We have a separate grant agreement that contains information about electronic payments through Bill.com, however, the main wording is the same. I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions. Joyce The Daniel Foundation of Alabama

Cate, Thank you for our response! We try to work with the organizations as well. Our desire is for them to meet the challenge so we attempt to extend the time frame or pay the challenge in smaller amounts as funds are secured. We seldom get to a point were the organization decides they are unable to go forward or their…

@StaceyRivard, When you talk about linking organizations, is this something that is available in Community Suite? I don't see this as an option in GLM. Your input would be appreciated... Thanks, Joyce

@CarolReynolds, this is a great idea! I hadn't thought of adding the question to the application. We can certainly consider this option as well. Your input is greatly appreciated! Joyce

Our foundation is currently looking into ways to make grant payments through ACH and I've been doing some research. Right now we require a grant agreement to be signed with every grant so it should be easy to incorporate some type of direct deposit form to be completed every time as well. We have no plans to store their…

@HeidiFindlay - I'll be happy to share our Grant Agreement! I created a standard form that includes a "Special Conditions" section. This field is populated with text defining any special conditions of the grant such as "This is a three year award payable at $25,000 in year one, $25,000 in year two, and $25,000 in year…

Katie Makenzie, we do assign all follow-ups at the beginning of the grant cycle. I create multiple status reports when the process is created (Grantee Status Report-Year 1, Grantee Status Report-Year 2, etc). When the grant is approved and the follow-ups pop up for selection I do have to 'uncheck' everything that doesn't…

We have a standard grant cycle that we follow year to year. We post a calendar on our website and update it as needed. New grantees learn about us through word of mouth and our existing grantees pretty much know our schedule. It works for us since we only serve the state of Alabama.

@CullynAnderson I totally feel your pain with hard copy board binders! Thankfully we have moved to an online platform, but I have a few tips you may be able to use. Using the Merge Template in GLM, I created an Application Summary that pulls only the relevant information for the Board. This keeps me from having to print…
