Reporting Fund Balances

I would like to ask if anyone reports fund balances to board members. A question has come up as to the fiduciary responsibility to protect the confidentiality of the donors' private financial information and how to take the appropriate steps to protect this information from public disclosure.

Hi Beth,

Great question. For the same reasons you noted, we only share figures in the aggregate by fund type (e.g., donor advised, field of interest, scholarship, etc.) with our board members. Our team keeps all fund holder activities confidential including grant and giving history. Hope that helps inform your process!
