We are a Mac office and don't want to move to QuickBooks Online now that QuickBooks has phased out Mac support. Has anyone made the change to a new software that they are happy with? We have 10 companies, and it is primarily only banking records and pulling reports, TB, BS, IS, and journal entries. Any insight? Suggestions?
I was having a philosophical conversation with a grant administrator and we were chatting about the average approval rate for grant processes. What would you consider a 'normal' approval rate (partial or full funding) for your competitive grants?
Do you have information on other upcoming Regional Training dates & locations for 2025? I know some have been announced, but we're trying to be sure what's ahead is on the calendar for this year and budgeted for so we can plan and staff accordingly around our events and scholarship/grant cycles. Particularly interested in…
Does your foundation award many grants at low dollar amounts or few at larger dollar amounts? Our foundation tends to award few grants at larger dollar amounts to maximize impact in the community among strong nonprofits.
Hello everyone, We are just getting started and trying to make sure we gather the important details for a grantee before we process a grant. Does anyone have a comprehensive list that they could share? One specific question is do you always need to have a W9?
For those who use a Universal Application for scholarships, if you use a dropdown menu listing college majors to determine students' eligibility for certain scholarships, would you be willing to please share the dropdown list of majors you list?
I am looking for input on how other funders handle indirect costs in grant budgets. I would be interested in any perspectives or policies that anyone can share. I know that there is a lot more discussion out there right now on recognizing the full cost of projects and allowing for more generous indirect cost rates. Marian…
I'm trying to figure out an effective method to tag grants within my various processes (both ongoing and past) so that I can categorize them based off of the social issues targeted. One idea I have is using the reporting feature to filter out certain grants but I wonder if I can achieve a tagging outside of this feature I…
Hi folks, I'm looking to connect with other community foundation colleagues who have undergone strategy shifts that made significant changes to grant processes (e.g., decreased grant amounts, sunsetting previous grantee relationships that no longer are strategy aligned). We are shifting discretionary resources to…
I'm looking for best practices or procedure list of how to process scholarships through SLM before sending apps to evaluators/selection committees. Do you review them and abandon ones that clearly don't qualify, etc. and then mark the app complete, etc? Would appreciate your insights or any shared docs of procedures.…
Does anyone else issue ACH grants through their Bank of America checking account? We have found that if the grant recipient also has a BoA checking account there are major limitations! For one grantee ACH was not permitted by BoA but we could send a wire for a $30 fee. For another grantee, there was a limit of $25,000…
We’re really hoping to get NACHA working smoothly. While we are able to successfully upload our NACHA files to the bank, there is a formatting issue that’s causing a troublesome delay in the funds being transfered to the recipients. The bank's ACH department is having to manually push the payments through. I understand the…
