Reflecting on Giving Tuesday: What Worked, What Didn’t, and What We Can Learn Together
Hi everyone! 🌟
Now that Giving Tuesday is behind us, I’ve been reflecting on how important this day is for driving awareness, engagement, and impact in our communities. It’s also a chance to test the effectiveness of strategies and tools we rely on to make philanthropy thrive.
I’d love to hear from you about your experiences this year:
- Engagement Strategies: What approaches did you use to inspire donors and tell your story effectively? Did you try something new this year, or stick with a trusted method that’s worked in the past?
- Maximizing Tools: How did our software support your Giving Tuesday efforts? For example, did you use donor segmentation to personalize outreach or reports to track progress in real-time?
- Lessons Learned: Were there challenges you encountered that helped you grow or strategies that didn’t land as expected? How might those lessons influence your planning for future campaigns?
One theme I’ve been exploring in a fundraising course is the power of storytelling and donor-centered messaging—making the donor feel like the hero of the impact story. If you used this kind of messaging, I’d love to hear how it resonated with your community.
Let’s make this a space for shared learning! Whether Giving Tuesday was a triumph, a learning experience, or somewhere in between, your insights can help others refine their strategies for next year.
Looking forward to your stories and ideas! 🚀

We focused on our community wish list items - it's a great way for those who are stepping into philanthropy for the first time to get started by meeting immediate needs for non-profits and schools in the service area. Additionally it was followed up with telling the story of some of the wishes that were granted and demonstrated that both small amounts and larger amounts make a big difference for the organizations who benefit. Storytelling is important on so many levels, especially one generation to the next - in our work, it can be a key way that the seeds of generosity are planted and grown across the years.

We tend to mention Giving Tuesday generally on social media but we tend to not focus on fundraising on that day because we don't want to compete with our grantees. We have other campaigns at different times of the year to solicit our fundholders.
